April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. In conjunction with the State Board of Education, we are providing for you information on key areas. See attached for the pdf: http://health.utah.gov/vipp/topics/rape-sexual-assault/resources.html.  According to the Utah Health Status Updates:
-        Sexual Violence 2008, sexual violence affects 1 in 3 women in Utah at some point in their lives;
-        1 in 8 women and 1 in 50 men in Utah will experience rape.
-        Utah ranks 9th in the nation for reported rape according to FBI Uniform Crime Reports. 
-        The Youth Risk Behavior Survey revealed that in 2013, 7.3% of Utah high school students reported that they were physical forced to have sexual intercourse when they did not want to.
-        Sexual violence can have a negative effect on health throughout the lifespan.

Nutrition Fact:
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics reserves March as National Nutrition Month.  The theme for 2017 is – “Put Your Best Fork Forward.”  By making small nutrition changes starting today and adding to those good changes regularly, you will improve your health and continue to improve into the future.  The Academy would love for anyone to check out their website www.eatright.org where they have guides and info on how to start shifting to healthier food choices.
